Collision Industry Job Descriptions: Vehicle Prep

Description

Moves and prepares cars, trucks, and vans for customer rental. Fuels, washes, and inspects cars so they are ready for the next rental customer. Drives vehicles on the property for customer convenience or off the property to outside locations as needed. May assist with maintenance around the building or property.

 

Personal Characteristics and Skills

Must enjoy working around cars and trucks. Be physically fit to lift, bend, and work with vehicles as needed. Be willing to work as a team player.

 

Job Outlook

There is always a need for moving and preparing vehicles for rental and other maintenance tasks around a rental car business. This position can be an introduction to working with cars and trucks and a starting point for many automotive careers.

 

Pre-Employment Education and Experience

A high school education is preferred. No experience is necessary.

 

Earnings

Earnings usually start near minimum wage levels and increases depend on personal ability, work ethic, and local market conditions.

 

Career Path

This is an entry-level position. Demonstrating good work habits and a desire to advance, this position can lead to other opportunities, including entry-level technician and customer service representative. With additional experience and more training, this can lead to positions anywhere in the entire collision repair industry.

 

Continuing Education
