Collision Industry Job Descriptions: Delivery Service Representative

Description

Works from a supply store and is responsible for delivering products to customers and projecting a professional image. Checks all orders for accuracy, loads and unloads merchandise, and accepts returns. Checks invoices for accuracy, ensures signature for receipt of materials, and performs necessary paperwork for returned merchandise. Assists with store inventory.

 

Personal Characteristics and Skills

Must enjoy working with people, be detail oriented, and comfortable driving to customer sites. Requires good reading and math skills.

 

Job Outlook

With more vehicles and more miles driven every year, collision losses are inevitable and their repair requires specialized equipment, tools, and materials. Delivery of needed merchandise is a critical step in satisfying the customer’s needs. A quality store will employ several delivery service representatives to properly address all customers’ needs.

 

Pre-Employment Education and Experience

A high school education is preferred. A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are essential. Bilingual skills are a plus.

 

Earnings

This is an entry-level position in a supply store and starting earnings are near minimum wage. Increased earnings can be expected after demonstrating good work habits.

 

Career Path

This is an entry-level position. There can opportunities for advancement within the store, at other stores, or in collision repair businesses and new car dealerships.

 

Continuing Education

Internal company and manufacturer education programs for advancement or to meet state and local licensing requirements.
