Collision Industry Job Descriptions: District Manager

Description

Responsible for entire product line sales, service, and follow-up in a designated area. Identifies customers’ current and future needs, demonstrates products, and maintains contact with current and future customers. May arrange or be involved with product installation and training.

 

Personal Characteristics and Skills

Requires excellent reading, math, and computer skills. Must enjoy working with people in a sales environment. Must have good writing, communication, and presentation skills. Must be a self-starter and travel within district.

 

Job Outlook

Collision repair shops need current equipment and proper training to use it. New products, new models, and upgrades can keep repair shops up-to-date, but only if they are aware of availability, features, and benefits. There is always a need to inform current and future customers of a company’s product offerings.

 

Pre-Employment Education and Experience

High school graduate or equivalent plus experience in collision repair, automotive aftermarket, and/or direct sales. A degree in marketing is preferred.

 

Earnings

This position has earnings based on sales, starting around $30,000 to $40,000 and limited only by sales performance.

 

Career Path

This position usually follows experience in collision repair, automotive aftermarket, and/or direct sales. From here, there may opportunities in additional sales or marketing positions.

 

Continuing Education

Internal company education programs for advancement or to meet state and local licensing requirements. Business management and sales education available through local or on-line colleges.
